North Warrandyte CFA Rural Fire Brigade

The following major fires have occurred:

18 January 1962 Christmas Hills/Kinglake fire burnt out most of the area destroying 85 houses and killing 2 men in Blooms Road.

11 March 1965 Research fire burnt into the south western corner of the area.

8th January 1969 Diamond Creek fire burnt out some 25 homes across the northern half of the area and hall in Glynns Rd next to the fire station.

25th February 1991 Fire started at Pound Bend and burned across the river into North Warrandyte burning a total of 45 hectares.

October 16, 2002 North Warrandyte Community Centre burnt down - arson attack.

A detailed history of the North Warrandyte Brigade was published about ten years ago and will appear on this site in the very near future.
